The emergency services – fire, ambulance and police – who remain on duty to protect us over the holiday period have not been forgotten by St Albans United Synagogue members.
To show their gratitude on behalf of the local Jewish community for all that the dedicated officers and crews do for them and for the entire community throughout the year, the three elder children of the shul’s Rabbi Daniel Sturgess decorated cupcakes and delivered them on Christmas Day (December 25th, 2018) to St Albans Fire Station and Hatfield Police Station, along with illustrated handwritten notes expressing their appreciation.
Commented Rabbi Sturgess: “Many of us have enjoyed time away from our usual routines during the holidays, and many of us will have taken the opportunity to spend time with friends and family. However, while we do so, we know there are others in our society who have needed to continue working for our benefit, and we wanted to show in this small way how much we value the sacrifice they make for us.
“I am happy to say that the emergency services staff who received the gifts were touched by the sentiment – and excited by the cupcakes!”
