HGSS came together to produce the most mammoth achievement on Sunday. When we put out the call for help and item donation for emergency aid for Ukrainian refugees, we could not have envisaged the overwhelming amount of support we received. It was truly humbling to watch and be a part of.
With the wonderful help of so many of our members and friends from the wider community, we are incredibly proud that HGSS collected items for and packed 625 boxes of emergency aid (as well as the 180 boxes which were filled the week before) which, with the help and logistics of Goods for Good, are now on their way to Chelm in Poland, which is situated 25km from the Ukrainian border.
Help came from every area of the community, amongst the many examples, members of our Link minyan stood outside Bekems and Kosher Kingdom and collected a huge amount of items needed, groups of parents came together to fund a £1500 supermarket order, we were visited by members and their neighbours who had heard about the initiative and wanted to contribute in such a generous way, the youth were on hand too as were an army of Project Impact volunteers from years 9 to 11, all of whom could not have been more motivated to help. This was a true community project and we are so proud of the incredible work done by so many.
We want to thank each and every person who gave up their time to help, brought donations and support and particular thanks goes to David Sagal, Alyson Martin and Chayli Fehler.
