One of our members, Wally Gallick, who served in the RAF during WW2 and went on an incredible 27 sorties as a navigator in Lancaster bombers, was guest of honour at a special commemorative lunch held on Sunday.
Wally, now in his 96th year, laid a wreath at the Pinner War Memorial on behalf of Pinner Synagogue, as indeed he has done every year for the last 45 years.
Over 100 members of the synagogue, together with Wally’s wife, children and grandchildren attended the annual Pinner Village Remembrance Day service, which was followed by a communal lunch and talk by a local historian.
One of the organisers of the event, Ruth Brookarsh commented: “The whole community really enjoyed and appreciated the inspiring ceremony and fitting tribute to one of our local heroes”.
