Belmont’s Chanukah programme concluded with a busy week-end. There was a delicious, chicken soup Kiddush at the end of the Friday night service, attended by more than 70 people. The home-made soup, with lokshen and kneidlach of course, was cooked for all those present by Rebbetzen Lisa Levene. Earlier on in the week, her husband, Rabbi Marc Levene, sang to the Wednesday night crowds at Chanukah in the Square.

It may have sounded like a disastrous event but Captain Calamity was a resounding success. Grandparents, parents and children alike joined in the excitement, as the 50 attendees celebrated with a special bubble blowing performance from Captain Calamity. The festival concluded at Belmont on a more serious note with the first of the Sunday morning winter learning breakfasts. Maria Ntourlia of Stand With Us, gave a presentation on its work in responding to attacks on Israel, on campuses and in the community, encouraging those present to become confident advocates for Israel and fight antisemitism - a very suitable conclusion to a wonderful Chanukah week.
