Tribe Camp FAQs

Yes, to become a Tribe member is free – sign up your child here

Yes, each child needs their own unique log in for the Tribe website. Bookings for camps need to be made under the correct childs account.

The application process is in 2 parts

Part 1 – initial sign up and payment – this is a qiuck form and payment.

Once this is complete, you receive an email with the link to complete part 2 the medical form. You will have 48 hours to complete part 2 from receiving the form.

Part 2 – medical form and further information – a comprehensive 13 step form which includes the items listed in the next FAQ.

You have 48 hours from the initial application to complete the medical form.

PLEASE DO NOT RUSH THIS. It is important that you take your time with this application and give us the correct information about your child.

Please note that even though there is no payment for the part 2 medical form, you still need to go through the checkout to complete the application or we will not receive it.

You will need to have the following available:

For part 1:

  1. Child’s personal information ie name and DOB
  2. Child’s school
  3. Child’s shul
  4. Payment details

For part 2:

  1. Parent/guardian details
  2. Emergency contact details (not a parent)
  3. Child’s medical history including vaccination dates
  4. School information including their current school teacher for the reference section
  5. Passport/GHIC card information (for trips abroad)
  6. Medication details inc name of medications taken and dosage
  7. Allergy and dietary information
  8. A photo of your child

In order to helps us to ensure that all of our participants are adequately supported over the summer and have a safe and enjoyable time, we ask each participant to supply 2 references as part of the application.

The first is a current form teacher/head of year. The second is a community leader/rabbi that knows your child. You will need to provide their email addresses and telephone numbers.

Tribe believes everyone should have the chance to attend these life changing experiences. Bursaries are available

Please select the bursary £100 ticket option when signing up for your chosen programme in order to reserve your child’s space, a bursary application form will then be sent to you to complete. You will have 10 days from signing up your child to complete the bursary application form.

We accept all major credit cards, and payment can be done all in one go or in instalments chosen at the end of the application. Instalments will split the cost of camp into monthly payments. The balance of the ticket must be paid prior to the start of the trip.

Should your card expire or you need to change the payment method, please make sure to update us as soon as possible as full payment needs to have been made before the start of the programme.

A request to cancel your child’s space must be emailed to us at info@tribeuk.com

The cancellation terms are:

  • The Booking Fee/deposit of £150 is non-refundable.
  • A full refund minus an administrative fee of £150 will be given when written cancellation is sent- 6 months prior to departure of the trip.
  • A 50% refund minus an administrative fee of £150 will be given when written cancellation is sent to Tribe – between 3 and 5 months prior to departure of the trip.
  • No refund will be given within 2 months of departure

Once your child’s application has been submitted, our team gets to work!

  • The Tribe Welfare team will start to review your child’s application and contact references.
  • They will then contact you if we need any further information or have any questions regarding the information submitted.
  • Once both elements of an application have been signed off, we send out confirmation of place emails.

Please note that signing up and paying for the programme is not a confirmation that your child has a place on the programme.
This is only confirmed once the checks above have been signed off.

Our welfare team have a high volume of applications to process. Please bear with us.

If for any reason we were unable to accept your child on a programme, a full refund would be issued.

Each Tribe programme has a team of staff including:

  • Tribe leaders
  • Tribe office staff
  • Welfare officer
  • Medic
  • Safeguarding lead
  • Security guards
  • Chefs
  • Rabbinic/guest family

Tribe is part of the United Synagogue and welcomes people from a wide range of Jewish backgrounds and levels of religious practice.

Everyone is included and valued. We expect all participants on Tribe programmes to respect each other regardless of their personal commitment or religious background.

The laws of Kashrut and Shabbat are observed on all Tribe programmes.

Sleeveless tops (for both boys and girls), crop tops and any clothing revealing midriff, may not be worn.

Shorts and skirts should be close to knee length.

Necklines should not be too low. The clothes you wear should not have any inappropriate slogans or symbols.

Shabbat clothing should be smart.

It is at the discretion of Tribe staff to respectfully ask a participant to change his/her clothes.

At Tribe we have an experienced welfare team. Each camp site has a dedicated welfare officer who is there to look after all participants wellbeing and will be available to provide assistance to anyone who may need extra help whilst on the programme.

Tribe works closely with parents and participants to ensure we can be as inclusive as possible on our programmes. You will have the opportunity to discuss all additional needs with our welfare team when they are assessing applications.

All phones are collected in at the start of a programme. There are dedicated time slots that phones are handed out in (usually during free time).

Parents are notified in advance of these times.

Your child is covered under the United Synagogue general travel insurance policy.

This covers pre existing medical conditions as long as they have been disclosed to us.

Yes, we guarantee your child will be with at least one person they have written down. We send out a rooming update form in May to ask who your child would like to share a room with.

Bedroom sizes vary per site.

Trips can include theme parks, adventure activities, inflatable parks and water activities – depending on year group.

We have professional chefs on each of our camps who cater for all allergies and dietary requirements. The camp chefs plan a variety of tasty and nutritious meals for our participants.

For fussy eaters, we always have a plain/basic option available e.g. plain pasta at each meal. There is fruit available throughout the day on each camp.

We run a tuck shop during camp selling sweets, chocolate, drinks, crisps and other snacks.

Tribe is the youth department of the United Synagogue. We have been inspiring, educating, and connecting young Jewish people for over 20 years through meaningful experiences, innovative programmes, and resources that support every stage of their Jewish journey.

Tribe camp is a fun immersive and inspirational experience for all age groups. With programmes for school years 5-13, there is something for everyone. Spanning the UK, Europe, Israel and beyond, Tribe camp is action packed!
